Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Flying University

Share Skills. Build Community. Protect the Future.

About Classes Offered On This Page

All classes listed on this page are offered to the community by RMFUni, other mutual aid organizations or by individuals who have come forward to share their skills.

None of these classes are run "for profit." No individual or organization "earns a profit" from offering them. Many are completely free, some ask for a small donation to cover venue, parts or tools.

Instructor Vetting and Qualifications

Classes offered through organizations other than RMFUni or through unaffiliated individual members of the community are listed here only if

There's not a lot of information here about the classes, where they're being offered, etc.

Part of the point of a Flying University is that it's NOT a centralized umbrella organization that can be destroyed just by shutting down one small group of people. A Flying University is literally a decentralized community coming together to provide education resources to community members. If RMFUni ever shuts down, the networks of skilled teachers and curious students that we’ve worked to create can persist and continue to grow.

We won’t ever be publicly posting the exact address of a class being offered (though we may link to the organization providing it on our Mutual Aid Organizations page). So make sure to let us know you’re interested and take real charge of your own community education.

Also, please let us know if there’s a class you would like to offer to the community. We will share it, promote it and connect potential students to you.

I had a bad or uncomfortable experience in a class.

Auto Mechanics - Diag Days

  • Offered by: Backdoors Auto

Diag Days! a.k.a. Diagnosis days are intended to help people learn about their specific vehicles issue or scheduled maintenance even if the system that were looking at doesn’t fit into the rest of the class schedule. Think about it as a first come first serve mutual aid day. We may be doing some oil changes or we may be diagnosing a drive-ability issue. We may be having a lecture on preventative maintenance and planning maintenance schedules or we may be replacing brakes. We may be planning repairs for future classes or helping build out a mobile home. We may be doing general inspections or preparing vehicles for road trips.

Note, Diag Days are intended to TEACH you how to repair your car, not have your instructor repair your car for you. Please come prepared to learn and have fun!
